The Evergreen Supertanker made its debut yesterday, dropping 24,000 gallons of fire retardant at a time onto the Station Fire outside Los Angeles.  The plane is a converted Boeing 747, and it flies at an altitude of just 200 feet above ground level when it makes the drop.  It can dowse an area three miles long in one pass.
The only way this could possibly be more badass is if the pilot were Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger.
